Un nuevo record en el mundo del surfing se consolidó ayer durante los premios Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards fueled by Monster Energy. El surfista hawaiano Garrett McNamara ( Haleiwa, Hawaii) se llevo el premio de Biggest WAve Award por su hazaña llevada a cabo en Praia do Norte , Nazaré , Portugal el 1 de noviembre del 2011. McNamara surfeó una ola de 78 pies, batiendo un nuevo record de ola grande.
